We were crossing the region with our campervan and dropped by today after reading about their award winning wine online. The young owners were very kind and welcoming, they walked us around, showed us their vineyards and let us taste their wine. You can see they are very passioned people about wine, and we learned a lot! Thanks for being so warm and welcoming!
Chateau Beauportail truly stands out in the Pecharmant wine region, offering an exceptional experience that rivals even the esteemed Bordeaux selections. Their wines are full-bodied, embodying the rich and vibrant character that new world flavors are celebrated for. Each sip reveals a carefully balanced blend of aromas and tastes that speak to the meticulous care and passion behind their production. Chateau Beauportail is not just a wine; it's a testament to the potential of Pecharmant wines to shine on the global stage. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore beyond Bordeaux and delight in the complexities of a truly remarkable wine.
This winery is worth a visit! Owned by a couple from Canada it’s a great stop, especially if French isn’t your strong suit (like me). The passion and attention to winemaking is clear from the start! We got to taste some fantastic wine and it was my first introduction to Pecharmant, which has quickly made a way onto my fav list. Took a couple bottles home with us! Worth a visit!
If you only have time to visit one vineyard - make it this one. Hands down my favourite experience in many years of stopping off at multiple vineyards during our twice annual road trips from Brighton to the south of France to visit my in laws. We stopped by at random on a quiet April afternoon outside of tourist season and the owner dropped everything to give us a half hour tasting - explaining everything about the region, how one vineyard differs from another, how his wine is made, the different casks, the different oaks, everything. I’ve never had such an education and I loved every minute. Stephen’s passion for his wine shines through, and he was also very generous with his tastings, we even opened a barrel to check on the wine. It was also great that as he is originally Canadian I didn’t have to feel bad about my high school level French. I rarely write reviews but had to log on after we got home and unpacked our delicious wine - such a wonderful experience.
A really great tour taking us through the life of a grape 🍇 from the vine to the bottle.. purchased some excellent wine 🍷 too
We came to the region to discover the wine estates of the Pécharmant region and we stopped here. This domain has changed ownership four years ago and that is clearly a good thing. It is small and under renovation, so we were surprised to taste such good wine. In this region there are many wineries that have been there for generations and are much more established than Beauportail, so the wine is not expected to be as good as the best and perhaps even better at a lower price. When you come, you can expect to be greeted by gracious hosts who will share their passion and expertise for wine with you. My only regret from my visit is that I didn't purchase more wine while I was there.
We were there in mid-September and were warmly welcomed by the owner and were allowed to try the two top wines. (if no one is there, call) Thank you very much for that. We then shopped there. Price/performance absolutely top. Great wines, very nice people - what more could you want :-)
